We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The Medication Technician will be responsible for assisting with administering medications to residents/patients in accordance with prescribed guidelines while ensuring their safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a compassionate demeanor, and a commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Assist with administering medications to residents/patients as per physician's orders and established protocols.
- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications, ensuring that all medications are stored properly and securely.
- Maintain accurate medication records, including administration times, dosages, and resident/patient responses.
- Monitor residents/patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to healthcare professionals.
- Educate residents/patients and their families on medication management and the importance of adherence to prescribed medications.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and address any concerns related to medication management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards for medication administration and health safety.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in medication management.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Medication Technician or similar qualification is preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in medication administration, is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of pharmacology and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents/patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Must have an assistance with medication 6 hour training along with all required 2 hour trainings if applicable.
- Ability to lift and/or move patients or equipment as necessary.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and engage in physical activities for extended periods.
